How does Guardshore actually block porn?
Guardshore blocks known adult sites and checks browser addresses as you browse. Local AI also watches supported browser video for adult content, catching sites that aren’t on the list yet — all of it running on your Mac, with nothing uploaded. Setup walks you through what each permission is for: a network filter for site blocking, Accessibility for address checks, and Screen Recording for local AI detection.
How is this different from other blockers?
Extensions and Screen Time can be turned off in a few taps, usually at 1am. Guardshore has no off switch inside the app. Turning protection off takes a deliberate step outside it, like a Mac administrator disabling or uninstalling it. And because detection isn’t limited to a static list, it keeps catching sites a list-only blocker would miss. It’s one layer, not the cure. It won’t fix what you’re escaping from, and we won’t pretend it does.
Does anyone see what I’m browsing?
No. Guardshore doesn’t upload your browsing history or send reports to us, an accountability partner, or anyone else — blocking and detection both run on your Mac. The app does check for signed blocklist and model updates, which exposes ordinary connection info like your IP address to that update host, the same as any app checking for updates. Billing is handled separately once purchasing opens.
Does it work on my phone?
Guardshore is for Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It doesn’t protect your iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or Windows computer. Final hardware, browser, and VPN compatibility will be listed with the download before release.
